Just make sure you've a copy of any Plugins / Regions folders containing your mods and save files. Sometimes the quickest solution is better than worrying about what happened. Also, if you are considering running without the launcher, it's necessary at some point, so there's nothing to loose. Honestly this behaviour is very odd and at this point re-installing SC4 might not be a bad way to go. Does the application show up briefly in the Task Manager at all? Running with Admin rights should prevent the UAC prompt from appearing, either way you say nothing is happening? Try pressing CTRL + ALT + ESC to bring up the Task Manager in Windows. Windows asking for permission (UAC) is a sign that SC4 resides in a "protected area", but then anything under Program Files / Program Files (x86) usually is.

Note too, SC4 doesn't get updated (since 2003), it also has no on-line features, as such a launcher is of no benefit either. Certainly the stand-alone install has no issues when installing NAM, the 4GB Patch or any other modding activities. The launcher is something new, but as with anything, when you make something more complex, you open the door to new problems. Both of us, along with many others, happily use the GoG version without issue. Otherwise I'd second Corina's advise, re: not using the GoG Galaxy launcher. For example, do you see the game running but it stops somewhere along the way? Is there an error message? The behaviour here is key to understanding what may have gone wrong. It's very important to know exactly what happens when you try to run SimCity 4.exe directly. at first, but then I would be able to open it directly if this was the case. It seemed that the launcher had lost track of the exe. I tried running it in Admin mode, and tried troubleshooting compatibility as well. from inside the installation folder to no avail. I have Tried opening the game directly from the exe.
